The Perdana Putra was first occupied in April 1999 after all section of the Prime Minister Department moved from Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya. This Building complex sits onthe main hill in Putrajaya fronting the Independence Square.
The structural design is influenced by cultural elements such as Malay, Islamic, Palladian and Neoclassicism.
The Putrajaya Independence Square ( Dataran Merdeka Putrajaya ) is an open space located oppposite Perdana Putra, which si the Prime Minister's office complex. the square is the focal for major festivals and national celebrations Day parade. The Putra Mosque is also located beside the Square.
