Putrajaya which is ths new Federal government administrative centre of Malaysia was founded on 19 October 1995 and is located in the middle of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC). With a land size of 46 km, it is a Federal Territory, situated about 25km north of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang.
The name Putrajaya is in memory of the first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al - Haj who fought for the independence of Malaysia. As a planned city, more than 70 percent of Putrajaya is devoted to greenery and water bodies with 13 different gardens. With the relocation of the vorious Ministries and Government Agencies to Putrajaya, this has helped relieved Kuala Lumpur from congestion and diverted development projects to a new growth pole.
